One of our favourite wedding cinematographers, Naz of NazFilms published this amazing super 8mm of our couple Carla and Neal, Married last June in Toronto's own Hart House. Photography was captured by Andrea's of AndreasPhotoCo.

Over 225 Americans descended onto the small Yorkville, Toronto community that weekend. They shopped, they toured, enjoyed a high tea at the Windsor Arms Hotel and treated guests to a version of Toronto only a Kardashian could muster!

Loved planning this wedding, the bride living in New York and the Bridal Solutions Team running around making sure no detail was left unsourced. The classic black and white theme added elegance. All the way through Carla kept telling me, "I want the wedding to feel warm, welcoming, like you just came over to my house and I plopped a vase of white flowers down on the table for you to enjoy" and enjoy the guests did, we all did!!

Take a moment to savour this wedding flash back, not a word uttered, but all the emotion captured. Next time a bride asks me if she should hire a cinematographer, I think I will show her this clip!!

Our Bride Crystal chose Colour, Crystals and Elegance as her theme, which seemed rather appropriate considering her name is Crystal ! Guests where treated at Crystal + Adrian's wedding in the summer of 2010 to great food, style and a feast for the eyes!

Just got these great photo's by Mark Anthony Photo Studio. With a bridal party of 18 we began the day at 7:00 Am Sharp with hair, make-up and breakfast!

Photo signing book of the couple by Bridal Solutions Inc. An awesome DIY! for any bride. Guests loved the idea of thumbing through and catching a glimpse of the couples everyday.

Family and close friends sat clover tables with over the top bird baths of bulging mixed florals'. In designing the room, we also decided to play with table size, shape and floral heights. This allows the room to feel more full and guests feel "uniquely special" while sitting at a different type of table with an original floral arrangement.

Love Christine Hassler at Custom Made Wedding Cakes! She's amazing and can create just about anything in theme. Christine will interview the couple or wedding planner! LOL matching the brides gown, the theme and the colour to a perfect hew.

Here's another shot of those clover tables we told you about previously! Just love seating guests this way, you can actually seat up to 15 guests together. A great solution for large family's or a large group that you just can't split up.

What a dynamic couple! I wish you both all the best Crystal + Adrian!

Save The Date Inspirations....

A Save The Date notice is an item stating the date of a wedding or other formal event. It typically states the date when a couple plans to marry, so that recipients will know to keep that date free. Save The Dates usually take the form of a card, but can also be a refrigerator magnet or similar item. They can express your theme or level of formality, be an extension of your wedding stationary, but it is not mandatory or a rule of thumb...Remember, A Save The Date Card is NOT an invite, really just your names and date are the only information that should be included on a Save The Date.

Save the Dates are generally sent out at least six to twelve months before the wedding date, and are usually followed by a formal wedding invitation a fe months before the wedding day.

If you are intending to be married in Summer or Fall of 2011, there's still time to get your Save The Dates to your expectant guests. Don't be nervous, There's StillTime!! Here are a few that we loved...

Italian Weddings

The Nulla Osta released by the foreign country Embassy in Italy is the most important document required to marry in Italy, to obtain this document you have to send to the Embassy a list of other documents which differ country by country. Our coordinators will follow you step by step giving you all the information. More documents and different procedure are required for Canadian Citizens.

Civil Ceremonies

Civil Ceremonies by law must take place in a Town Hall only. The readings of the civil vows are conducted in Italian and are about 15 to 20 minutes long, but you can enrich the wedding however you prefer, for instance a Reading, Poem, Candle lighting or Other type of symbolic addition. In addition, if you would like; the rings are exchanged and then the witnesses sign the wedding act as do the bride and groom.

The minimum stay required stay in Italy is 4 days before the marriage service can take place. Some Registry Offices in Italy will require you to sign a Declaration of Intention

to Marry 2 to 4 days prior to your marriage ceremony. It is recommended that you check with the local municipality for local regulations. A civil ceremony is legally recognized throughout the world. A multi-lingual certificate is issued and this is valid internationally.

Roman Catholic Ceremony

Foreign citizens can be married in Italy according to the Catholic rites. A Catholic Ceremony can only be performed in a Catholic Church and can only be celebrated when both bride and groom are Catholic. If one of the parties is of a different religion, a Catholic wedding is still possible as long as you attend the required pre-marital classes and have the paper work approved by the religious authorities in Italy. If you have completed your marriage classes locally in Canada, you must provide proof and certificate of The Catholic Marriage Prep Course completion in order to proceed with a marriage in an Italian Catholic Church.

In the case of one of the parties being divorced, the Catholic Church will not allow you to remarry in church, you must have an annulment recognized by the Catholic Authorities.

A Roman Catholic ceremony it will be automatically registered with the Italian Authorities, therefore a civil wedding is not required.

Other religious ceremonies are available only in some cities and have no legally binding. So you will have to also complete the civil ceremony.

Symbolic Ceremony and Renewal of Vows

The symbolic ceremony is the right choice for those who prefer not worry about completing documents for a civil or religious ceremony. This type of wedding is not legally binding and spouses have the freedom to personalize the ceremony. It can be performed by a pastor, an Italian officer or a family member.

This past summer season saw Bridal Solutions Inc. work exquisite weddings!!

Michelle + David's Wedding at the Royal York Hotel on October 9th, 10 was of course no exception! From Carol our fantastic in-house RY rep, to the fantastically helpful Valet attendants, from our photographer the Lovely Angelina at Michael Francis Photographers Co. to whom we owe these most amazing images - I just love the way she's captured the feeling of every moment!! To Vera Wang for that stunning gown and gorgeous bridesmaids dresses, the day was perfect!! Perfectly planned and went off to complete a day of fantastic memories!!

On our way to the church, boarding the vintage 54' Rolls from A Choice Rolls Livery Toronto.

I often say, "Have 1 major piece of your wedding or event be a "WOW" piece! Well this definitively fits the bill!! This arrangement created on-site by Xia Flowers by Cliff, stood over 9 feet tall and consisted of over 500 flowers, greens, orchids, and roses. Just love him!! How's this for a seating card table and grand entrance!

Centrepieces consisted of a variety of roses, garden roses, crystals, hydrangea's and tea roses atop either a candelabra or silver cast trumpet vase. Low level flowers also adorned the table with candles creating a warm, low-level foundation for light. Again, CLIFF!

While Cocktails where held in the adjacent Royal York Ballroom, live Jazz Musicians played and entertained the guests. As Guests entered the Main Concert Hall, the room came alive with the big band tunes of The Starlight Orchestra Anthony Terpstra. The most amazing Vincent from Symetry Studios kept everyone dancing all night!

The Wedding Cake was designed and created by Christine Hassler of Custom Made Wedding Cakes in Mississauga. Even though the roses look exactly the same as the fresh arrangements on the tables, can you believe each and every flower on Michelle and Davids Wedding Cake is made from Sugar Flowers! Christine Hassler patiently created over 400 fresh buds for this traditional masterpiece!

A True Love Story....May 1, 2010

"Posting From The Ottawa Office - Bridal Solutions Blog..."

Many of you have called or written me regarding my last blog about Joey & Vanessa. While everyone had great feedback about their pictures, some wondered what had happened to Joey at such a young age. With their permission, I will share their story as it really is a bitter-sweet one!

Joey and Vanessa dated for six years prior to their engagement on May 1st 2009 - their 6 year anniversary. Vanessa was thrilled and being a wedding planner herself, commenced planning her dream wedding right away. Then on June 14th 2009 she received a telephone call indicating Joey had been in a serious accident while motor crossing. As it turns out Joey had been leading the way through a dirt bike trail in Quebec, something he had done many times before, but this time he hit a rock and flew off his motocross. As his friends were a distance behind, they found him sometime later; he was unconscious. Upon arriving at the hospital, the doctors felt his injuries were more than their medical staff could handle and consequently had the ambulance transport him to the Ottawa Civic Hospital, Trauma Unit. Joey had broken his spine from T4 to T6 and crushed his spinal cored leaving him paralyzed from the chest down. He was rushed into surgery at 11pm at the Ottawa Civic hospital, where they straightened his spine with two metal rods and 12 screws. I remember visiting Joey and Vanessa at the hospital about three days after this horrible accident, Vanessa was so strong and positive and even Joey was smiling in between drifting off to sleep. They spent the next two weeks in the Trauma Unit at the Civic Hospital as Joey recovered from his surgery.

On June 29th he was transferred to the Ottawa Rehabilitation Center where he would learn to live his life without any movement and minimal sensation from the chest down. Here he would go through intensive physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and learn more then he ever thought he would know about his body. All of this happening while they continued to make plans for their wedding on May 1st, 2010. On September 29th Joey was discharged from the rehab center and finally was able to come home. He is now fully independent driving his new car and keeping busy with many sports such as alpine skiing, cycling, sledge hockey, and cross country skiing. Now with most of their wedding plans in place they can't wait to marry each other and quite honestly, I can't wait to witness it!!!!!

Bridal Showers are a time to celebrate the bride, her individual taste and the fact that she will no longer be on the market. European showers are known for their 100+ giddy ladies, munching on almond cookies and competing for the next prize. Well the shower we planned last weekend is no exception.

Ivonne's bridal shower consisted of 110+ ladies and their children, laughing, drinking and chatting about how "creative" and "organized" our bride was. It was a busy and fun afternoon!

Tables where named after each centrepiece - far more interesting than table numbers. And each table was decorated in either Pink or a fantastic Key Lime Green!

A Mariachi Band serenaded the guest tables while everyone enjoyed a 4 course lunch. The meal ended with a Gelato Cup, topped with a shot of Bailey's. At one point all the ladies jumped up and danced around the brides table with the Mariachis - a great way to get moving after a large meal.

Daisy's are the brides favorite! Centrepieces where awarded to the guest that sat at the chair with a flower attached.

This cake was all the rage from the moment it was delivered! Compliments of Fabulous Cakes and Confections

A November Day of Bliss!!

St. Paul's Basilica is perhaps one of Toronto's oldest Catholic Churches. Fr. Maurice was amazing, so easy to talk with and delivered a brilliant service. Perhaps one of the city's best kept secrets, St.Paul's is the perfect location for a Catholic Service.

Carnations are an underestimated flower and making a comeback!! When packed tightly carnations display a fabulous petal of colour and perfect composition. All flowers can be reused & recycled post ceremony at the head table to minimize the environmental footprint, also a great way to stretch YOUR wedding budget!

These centrepieces added both height and mimicked the perfect Fall Look! Fresh sweetheart roses trimmed the chocolate brown trees, based with moss and red roses added the perfect punch. The guests where all chatting about how different and unique these centrepieces looked.

Tall Trees lit with candles, Giant Red Carnation Balls, and candles lit up the head table. The focal point being the tables themselves rather than a giant backdrop behind the couple.

La Dolce Vita! Only at the Eglinton Grand

I first met this couple almost 2 years ago! They are lovely. They are truthfully a pleasure to work with, an honour to have gotten to know, and madly in love! They where first considering another venue, wanting "something different"- but not sure what the difference would be. After consulting with them both and an extensive interview process I realized the Eglinton Grand would be PERFECT! After one site check the couple knew this venue was for them. These fabulous escort cards (along with all our wedding stationary) where created by Holly at Tear Drop Invitations. She's amazing and incredibly talented. All her creations are custom and created only after a thorough understanding of your theme and where you'd like to go with your wedding event. She's incredibly professional. I always say "Your invites & wedding stationary are your event advertising!" They set the tone for the evening and prepare your guests to not only witness the wedding but be a part of the excitement!

The most common way that Escort Cards are displayed is as a tented card on a table outside the main ballroom. They are normally alphabetized for ease of use and then a separate card would assign the guests seat at the designated table close to the place setting.

Menu's where also created by Holly at Tear Drop Invitations.

To continue the theme tables where named after great movies of the 40's, a fabulous alternative to numbers or tacky fashion logos.

One of our favorite weddings this year was an enchanted beach themed wedding. A few of this couples guests where unable to attend the Ceremony in St.Croix, so our clients allowed us to plan a fabulous reception event for Canadian friends & family here in Toronto. Bringing the beauty of the Islands to a stunning water venue ATLANTIS PAVILLION located on the Toronto downtown shore line.

Weddings are the perfect occasion to showcase your creativity and reveal intimate details about both you and your partner. Your guests will feel both wowed and appreciated at the level of intimacy created through monograms, personalized menus and the shear experience of walking into a room with a theme!

Music and live entertainment also add to any event theme. When considering a theme think of what you experience when inside the desired effect - for instance at the beach - what are the sites, sounds, smells, tastes, colours - nothing can be understated. The result is a fabulous event with loads of details!
This was a lot of fun to create. Self serve seating card sandboxes lined the great windows of the venue. Orchids, shells and starfish also added an extra beach theme touch.

This next detail was a lot of hard work for almost 400 guests however worth every paper cut! We created individualized menu's to coinside with the guests' menu selection. This served as functional for the waitstaff with personalized meal monograms and also added a fabulous touch of detail and theme. As guests where seated to read the menu and noticed the menu was personalized their faces lit up at the extra little detail. We overheard guests mention "They thought of everything!".

One of our favorite vendors here in the city is Christine Hassler from CMW Cakes. Her cakes are truly custom, she's just fabulous to work with!! Can you imagine that every grain of sand on this cake was a delicious sugar based morcel of delight! Even the shells (I HAD to munch on one!!) where so delicious. The level of detail and absolute love of what she does shines through in every one of her creations.

The matching beach chairs where the talk of the guests! Gone are the days of a traditional bride and groom dancing atop a cake, the shinny monogram or the absolute corny cake topper of bride grabbing her husbands collar - totally passe! Pick a theme and stick to it....details, details, details!!

Guests finished the evening with a succulent sweet and savory station as we toasted the bride and groom & where wowed to a waterfall of colours and fireworks!

I met the most fabulous Talent at the Carlu Show this past month. Her name is Alexandria and her company name is Cake Opera and what a fantastic Opera it is! Alexandria studied the arts in Italy and discovered her passion as a pastry chef and artist while abroad.

A True Talent, all cakes are exclusively custom made for any one of her clients, then hand painted to perfection. Alexandria's works of art can demand nearly 40 hours!

Her cakes are absolute works of art and I hear even more beautiful once you cut into them! And YES its ALL CAKE! Every Delicious morsel! Cake Opera Co. will also design party favors, mini cakes, and all sorts of yummy treats...

The sign said "Please do not Touch" but I HAD to - I ever so gently touched a piece, I swear it looked like silk, a Cake made for a Princess Bride!!

Thanks Alex for showing us all that wedding cakes can be so much more than 3 tier's of fondant!!

Destination Weddings to Punta Cana & Puerta Plata

Recently I had a meeting with a Travel Professional Brenda Hanson here in Toronto. We spoke on Punta Cana and Puerta Plata. While we discussed the pleasure of destination weddings, our conversation raised some interesting and rather disturbing issues. For instance – did you know that there is only ONE legal judge/ officient legally able to marry destination couples in these 2 cities? That's ONE person for the 2 cities combined!! YES, ONLY 1 guys is legally able to marry destination couples – I couldn’t believe this so I called around - One resort said this officient had over 38 weddings that week, at only ONE location, and I should offer different time options to the resort through to my wedding day - "just incase". One on-site resort person even stated that wedding ceremony's where taking less than 15 minutes when couples where promised 30 minute services!! While my intent is NOT to scare you it is to inform you that you get what you pay for, apparently the locals at these resorts are asking Canadians and Destination Couples to marry legally in their own country and then have a “spiritual” service when they arrive to the resort in Punta Cana or Puerta Plata. Sort of putting the carriage before the horse, dont you think? Apparently the local rep for the Dominican here in Toronto is aware of the situation and nothing has been done thus far... apparently the D.R. is still actively being marketed as a destination wedding "hot spot"- real cheap and cheerful... all Im saying is - "Buyer Beware!"

Rachel Clingen one of our preferred decorators and florist, supplied the fabulous floral you see and Mimmo & Naz where the photographers, we of course danced all night to Goodvibrations DJ service...

2 Ceremonies - 1 Busy Day!!
September 1st lead us into a fantastic weekend, not only did this couple have the traditional Persian Service, we later joined them after pictures for a Western Service...This couple was all about fun, relaxation, and a fabulous family event, way to celebrate both cultures!

Also this month.... Chinese Tea Service and Dragon Dangers! This was the coolest entrance I think I have ever witnessed. The couple had the drums and dragon follow them into the venue as they where announced in - a FABULOUS alternative to the cookie cutter first dance upon entrance!

This Indian Bride was a fashion-ista at heart! Orange and Fuchsia Pink! Bold, Beautiful, and Breathtaking Every guest that walked into this venue was floored all evening, complete with Bollywood Videos on big screens during dancing!

Recently one of my Brides was wondering about the Bridal Party and what specifically each Bridesmaid, Usher and even Maid of Honour is responsible for... I've decide to post a few Job descriptions for the Maid of Honour and Brides Maid - just incase any more brides are facing the same dilema...

The Maid of Honour - General Duties –

The Maid of Honor is, after the bride, the primary member of the bride's wedding party in a wedding. Specifically, she is the primary attendant with the most honors and duties of the bridal party, and is considered the equivalent of the groom's best man.

In the North America, the bride might have several bridesmaids, but the Maid of Honor is the title and position held by the bride's chief attendant, typically her closest friend or sister. If married, the title Matron of Honor is used.
Her duties may be as many or as varied as the bride may wish to impose upon her, but typically, she is responsible for:
Pre wedding – Both Maid of Honor and Bridesmaids may attend to these details…

. Travelling with the bride to help choose a wedding venue.
. Helping to choose and address wedding invitations.
. Going with the bride to help with the shopping for her wedding dress as well as the bridesmaid dresses.
. Going with the bride to register for her wedding gifts.
. Helping the bride with the seating arrangements.
. Hosting and planning the bridal shower with the mother – In – law, as well as the bachelorette party.
. Maintaining communication and organization with the other bridesmaids.
. Attending and assisting during the rehearsal dinner.

Wedding day

. Assisting the bride with her dress and makeup.
. Being the messenger if the bride wants to communicate sight-unseen with the family or groom.
. Visiting the reception room to check on the details.
. Helping to make sure the bride has privacy before the ceremony if desired.
. Signing of the marriage licence after the ceremony.
. Helping the bride with her veil and train before, during and after the ceremony.
. Holding the bride’s bouquet during the ceremony as required.
. Holding the groom's wedding ring to hand to the bride during the ceremony
. Making a toast and/or speech during the reception.
. Securing any money as might be given to the wedding couple during the reception.
. Providing emotional support as needed.

Specific Duties for the Maid of Honour –

. Attend brides’s Dress Fittings
. Co-ordintate the Bridesmaids to attend their own dress fittings
. Help choose and Address Wedding invites
. Coordinate Games with the Brides maids at the shower – delegate 1 game to each bridesmaid and have the bridesmaid run that game.
. Assist in organizing the seating plan for the Shower
. Assist in organizing the seating plan for the Wedding day
. Organize and select invites for the Bachelorrette party (normally a few weeks before the wedding day)
. Unanswered RSVP’s please call the late RSVP’ers to ensure they are coming to the wedding
. Ensure an emergency kit for the day of the wedding
. Ensure Marriage license on the wedding day
. Ensure all Bridesmaids are on-time and accounted for on the wedding day.
.Ensure all Bridesmaids have their hair and make-up done in the manner selected by the bride.
. Essentially you are the supervisor of the bridesmaids and must ensure that they are all on cue.
. Sign the Marriage license on the wedding day
. At the receiving line at the reception you are to stand closest to the Best Man at the Party favors, welcome guests and hand out party favors.
. pay for own wedding dress and alterations

A bridesmaid is a girl or young woman who attends to the bride during or after a wedding or marriage ceremony. Traditionally, bridesmaids were chosen from unwed young women of marriageable age.
. Hosting and planning the bridal shower as well as the bachelorette party.
. Maintaining communication and organization with the other bridesmaids.
. Attending and assisting during the rehearsal dinner.
. Making a toast and/or speech during the reception.

Specific Duties of the Bridesmaid... Notice How much Shorter this is....

. Listen to the Maid of Honour in delegated responsibilities – doing otherwise will cause the bride undue stress.
. Attend all Dress Fittings for Bridesmaid Gowns
. Be a willing participant in what is asked of you as a Bridesmaid
. Take on 1 Game at the Bridal Shower – run the game – be responsible for having bridal shower guests play the game.
. Be on time for all wedding meetings
. Be on time for all pre wedding events
. Assist the Maid of Honour in planning the bachelorette – making dinner arrangements, club reservations, etc…
. Responsible to pay for your own gown and alterations

On the Wedding Day...

- Be attentive and council the bride as she's getting ready and on the way to the church
- Assist the Bridal Party at the reception - for instance at the Reception Receiving line

Sunny Side Pavillion, Lakeshore, Toronto, Canada

This Venue Rocked!! We just completed a wedding on July 28th at the Sunny Side Pavilion - many couples go there for engagement shoots or wedding photos on the wedding day, you wouldn’t think of actually having your wedding there - but the venue was AWESOME! We had Daniel et Daniel cater the cocktail hour and reception in an 8 course Chineese/Caribean Fusion Meal. Jessica, the Sunny Side coordinator was also a pleasure to deal with! It was romantic. It was Lovely. I had a blast!

What a Lovely Couple! This picture was taken right after the butterfly release, if you look really close, you can still see 1 of the butterflies in her bouquet, how cute!

The Sunny Side Pavillion has been a social historical venue in Toronto, Canada since the 1800's...Want Original and Different, well this venue is definately a destination wedding hot spot right in the heart of Toronto!

I Love this! I decided to attach the seating cards to artifical trees in urns - Guests also enjoyed finding their names on the trees, we actually had 2 set up and a photo of the couple in a frame on an easle inbetween the 2 trees.

Grooms Cake?!?

Grooms Cake is exactly what it sounds like, a cake created in well wishes for the groom. Having its roots in Southern tradition, the groom's cake has been around for quite some time and is making a fashionable comeback on the wedding scene.

Traditionally, a groom's cake was sliced and boxed for the unmarried girls attending the wedding to take home and place under their pillows in hopes that the man they dreamed of would be their future husband. Groom's Cake has come along way since then. Today the cake is meant to be a reflection of the groom's interests, whether it be one of his hobbies, favorite sport, alma mater,profession, etc..

It's a personal choice when to serve the cake - either at the rehearsal dinner, as an alternate dessert with the wedding cake, or as a late night dessert for the wedding party. Just because primarily groom cakes tend to be a fruit cake or a chocolate cake shouldn't dictate what the bride and groom should have. Obviously being named "Groom's Cake" it should be a flavor and theme that the groom enjoys.
